    Description

Mid Century Fred Press Tray - Glass with Horse Motif.
Fred Press was born in Boston, MA, in 1919. He studied and later taught at the Vesper George School of Art and was the founder of the sculpture collection Contemporary Arts, Inc. In the 1950's, he moved to New York City where he became the chief designer for Rubel and Co. and turned his artistic skills towards glassware and giftware.
He was one of the most versatile and prolific of America's 20th Century designers. Press produced hundreds of sculptures and paintings (which are part of the permanent collection of Boston's Museum of Fine Arts) in addition to numerous glassware designs. His product designs won awards from New York's Museum of Modern Art. His unique products and glassware remain popular today.
This tray is a beautiful example of his work. It measure approximately 18”x9”x 1.5”. No chips or cracks. Best of luck, retro buyers!
