In 1921 Adams starred in two-reel comedies for Educational Pictures and Al Christie. The slightly built, pencil-mustached Adams has been described by historian Kalton C. Lahue as "a poor man's Charley Chase." Like Chase, and unlike the other comics at Educational, Adams favored situation comedy over slapstick.
He briefly replaced Mack Sennett comic Harry McCoy in the cartoon-inspired Hall Room Boys series (produced by Harry Cohn and Jack Cohn, later of Columbia Pictures). By 1924 Adams was back with Educational.
Christie hired Adams for six comedies released in 1926 and 1927. The Christie comedies were more polite and less extreme than the slam-bang comedies of other studios, but Christie's soft-pedal comedy style did find an audience. Star comedians Jimmie Adams, Bobby Vernon, Lige Conley, Neal Burns, and Billy Dooley constituted a lineup that was no threat to Hal Roach, but nevertheless entertained millions with a style than neither Roach or Mack Sennett could or would provide.
I recently purchased a collection of books and other items from the estate of the owner of a former New York City bookstore named Cinemabilia at 10 West 13th St , run by
    Ernest D. Burns
    .
It was located in Greenwich Village in the 1970's and 1980's and, I believe, closed down in the late 1980's. Many of the books I will be listing are "new old stock" in that they were never sold. When his store closed down, he boxed everything up and they have spent the last thirty years boxed and/or bagged. As many were bagged, they will retain the brand new crispness of the jacket and pages, with many of the books clearly having never been opened until I did so to inspect and photograph them for purposes of identification. Those that were not bagged may have dusty edges or toning to the edges of the jackets and pages. If that is the case, I will describe them as such. Most of the new books that I have were printed in the 1970's and 1980's and
I will also be listing many used books as this was also a used bookstore. I also have a bunch of signed books
I utilize a third party EBAY supplied shipper for international sales. This is part of the Global Shipping Program. Please note the actual shipping cost before purchasing. That is not my shipping fee and I neither receive it nor know what the amount is. I have no control over import fees that may be charged.
Please do not commit to "buy it now" until you have seen the shipping amount that you will be charged. Thank you.
For International Buyers:  Media Mail shipments only. Please note that, although you are likely paying very high shipping costs to have this item sent to you, I am not charging those costs. In the case of books, I utilize "media mail" to get the box to the third party shipper. "Media mail" is a very SLOW speed mailing process reserved for books and records that are potentially very heavy. If you can not wait for my shipment to reach the third party shipper at a very slow pace, please contact me before purchasing and I can add a faster (and more expensive) alternative to the listing to get the item to the third party shipper.

    MEDIA MAIL:
The USPS allows books, records and other media to be mailed at a cheaper price than typical mail. It tends to be a much slower mailing process than standard mail. In addition, any employee of the USPS can open the package at ANY time for ANY reason to verify that what is inside is what should be inside. In most cases, the item is properly repackaged but, in rare cases, it is not and an item can arrive damaged. As my feedback suggests, I package very carefully. If you receive a damaged item that has the appearance of having been poorly packaged, please contact me prior to leaving feedback so that it can be addressed.
