5 Black mangrove propagules - Avicennia germinans - For your aquarium or pond

Description

Like the more common red mangrove propagules, these are essentially small plants, with cotyledons (seed leaves) on the outside, and true leaves and the initial stem/root on the inside. They start out quite small, about the size of a quarter, but growth will occur rapidly.
Ideal growing conditions are provided by a water level that is just below the surface of the substrate: leaving the propagules moist but not submerged.
Black mangroves are often found mixed with other mangrove species in Florida estuaries, and the leaves of mature plants have a distinctive, silvery sheen when viewed from below.
Propagules are carefully screened for quality prior to shipment. My goal is to deliver you healthy starter plants.
