    Description

1991 Chevrolet Caprice Station Wagon- this has been my daily driver for nearly 10 years, and now it is time to move it on to the next caretaker.
First, the bad details: It has the standard rust spots on the quarterpanels and dog leg areas. The air conditioner doesn't work, but all of the plumbing is still intact; the back seat floorpan has a couple of patches; it will occasionally run rough (either a spark control module or the ECM); cylinder #8 is weak and is showing signs of oil consumption; the motor weeps oil; mileage is approximately 240K miles, as the odometer ceased to work at 201K miles so the mileage no longer turns. The tires on the rear are not too bad, but to be safe the front tires should be replaced soon, although they show decent tread life left. The original steel rims are included, but the tires on them should be considered as "rollers" only. Right side inner fender is rusted beneath the battery. The horn button has been moved to the left of the steering column, as the original horn button evidently ceased to function (previous owner mod). It will smoke at first startup, but then clears up within a minute or so.
Next, the good details: The car runs and drives well and is very reliable. The cruise control is functional. It will come with the Cragar mags on it as shown, as well as the original steel rims with the Caprice wire wheel covers. It has the "patina" that is in vogue currently. Interior is in decent condition for the age. All of the windows operate well, going up & down. 3 of the 4 have had the window riser assembly repaired with the Dorman 74444 rollers. It has many new parts, as detailed in the following.  The rear door opens in both directions and functions perfectly. It has a decent aftermarket stereo. Power door locks work, as do the power mirrors and power seat. The original owner's manual and window sticker are in the glove compartment.
The car will come with an extra, complete 5.7L motor, that I was going to replace the 5.0L with. The 5.7L motor is a 93-95 from a 3/4 ton 4x4, with 75K miles on it. I pulled the motor down to the long block assembly to review the overall condition and replace parts while it was out and before putting it in the wagon. I did not install the new parts, but the new parts included are: OEM oil pan; Felpro oil pan gasket set; Comp Cams timing chain & gear set; Sealed Power oil pump; Mellings oil pump drive shaft; Felpro intake gasket set; Mellings oil filter adapter with bypass.
Recent new parts: New spark plugs & wires; new distributor cap & rotor, new air filter, new NAPA starter.
New parts within the past 6 months: O2 sensor; MAP sensor; Throttle Position sensor; Engine coolant sensor.
New parts within the last 12 months: Both headlights; front shocks; RH outer tie rod end; RH upper ball joint; front end alignment; (2) stabilizer end links; (2) rear hatch lift cylinders; heater core; oil pressure sending unit; brake lines from the firewall back with new rubber junction/splitter hose at rear end, Deka battery, driver window switch.
New parts within the last 18 months: Rebuilt transmission with remanufactured torque converter; water pump; lower radiator hose; heavy duty rear coil springs; load leveler rear shocks; repaired exhaust to manifold donut gasket; exhaust from converter back. There might be more, but that should take care of most of them.
Additional parts going with this car will include: a new pair of gas front shocks, a new tune up kit (wires, cap & rotor), a new serpentine belt, a remanufactured ECM.
Things to consider: it is an older car, and will need attention. It shows itself well and photographs well, the Cragar mags are starting to show their age. You should come prepared to take the extra motor with you, as in bringing a truck and trailer. I will make myself available when possible to help load. Shipping is the buyer's expense and responsibility. A non-refundable deposit of 0 to be made within 24 hours via Paypal, balance due in cash at time of pickup unless other arrangements have been made prior to auction's end.
