    Description

This is the one you've been looking for. Once in a lifetime opportunity.
All original, 1-owner, original paint, complete, unmolested example. Garaged and not driven for 43 years.  Does not run.
Original owner ordered new from factory in early 1971. He traded in his 1968 Cutlass Convertible (see invoice). This new Cutlass was his pride and joy. As you can tell, he took great care to preserve it. The car was parked in 1979 and hasn't been driven since. At the time, everything was in working order except the brakes, which needed repairs. It spent the next 43 years safely stored in his garage. He planned to restore it some day, but recently decided to offer it for sale.
The car is an outstanding example. Appears to be near 100% original, right down to the factory radio.
The body is remarkably straight and dent-free. It has never been in an accident or repainted, with the exception of the driver door. According to the owner, it was dented by another door opening into it at a bar room parking lot, and was repaired in the 70s. Aside from some paint on the door weatherstrip, I can't see the repair. The rest of the car shows no evidence of damage, repairs or repainting.
The factory paint is called "Saturn Gold". With 50+ years of age and dirt accumulated, it's difficult to appreciate the brilliant, vivid presentation of the original color, so I included a reference photo of a restored example. What an amazing, eye-catching color that compliments the white interior perfectly.
The body has some minor areas of rust perforation. The worst seems to be the lower edge of the trunk lid. Please refer to the photos.
The front floors are in excellent condition with no rust. The rear floors are sound, but will need patch sections and the support replaced. The trunk floor is excellent with no rust noted. The sale also includes the original spare, jack, and stowage hardware. Please see photos.
The very rear of the frame will need some minor repairs for corrosion. The rear crossmember will need to be replaced. I understand this is very common. The rest of the frame show no perforation or damage.
The original black convertible top is torn. However, it still works! It's a little stiff from the hardened material, but it goes up and down as it should. Remember, the owner said everything worked fine when he parked it, except the brakes.
Like the rest of the car, the interior is all original. He ordered it with the optional bucket seats and console with shifter. The white convertible top boot is quite stiff, but it's there.
The bumpers and trim are all in great shape for their age. No dents or damage noted.
Sale includes clear Oklahoma title and registration from 1978. Also, original dealer invoice from 1971.
This Cutlass would be the optimum candidate for a stunning, world-class restoration. It would be very difficult to find a better example. Think of the time and money you will save by starting with an original, complete car and the end value of having an original sheet metal restoration.  Buying the best project car will save you thousands of dollars in restoration costs and leave you with a much better investment.
Bid with confidence. I have been honestly and fairly dealing on eBay for 20+ years, with a 100% positive feedback rating.
